FIFTY-SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Deem of 1712 1/2 Beaver Street observed their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary on Friday in their home when a group of relatives and friends gathered to extend their best wishes on the happy occasion. The observance was entirely informal. Their children and other relatives arrived today and enjoyed a dinner at noon as an additional observance of the well known couple's anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Deem, who were married November 8, 1883, are life long residents of Wood County. Mr. Deem was born at Chesterville, April 20, 1861, and Mrs. Deem was born near Mineral Wells, February 15, 1863. Both are members of pioneer families and Mrs. Deem is the great granddaughter of the Mr. Cooper who built the pioneer log cabin now used as a museum in the City Park. Mr. Deem drove one of the old horse drawn street cars here. He is a carpenter by trade, organized the first carpenter's union in Parkersburg and served as president until about a year ago when he retired because of ill health. Both are active in Stephenson Memorial Methodist church. They are the parents of ten children, eight of whom are living. They are, Carl, C. M. and H. L. Deem of Parkersburg, W. H. Deem, N. M. Deem, J. C. Deem and Mrs. J. W. Tedrick of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. T. F. Tlaylor of Batlimore. A daughter, Eleanor and a son Richard are deceased. Mr. Deem says of their long wedded life, "They tied the knot tighter in those days and when you were married your stayed married." in November 1940 at Parkersburg, Wood County, WV. 
Burial*He was buried in October 1944 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Wood County, WV. 
Death*He died on 25 October 1944 at Parkersburg, Wood County, WV, at age 83.
