Mineral Wells, W. Va., July 24 - Miss Ada Deem was tendered a most delightful surprise party Friday evening by a number of her friends in commeration of her birthday anniversary. The affair was arranged by her sister. Miss Nora Deem and was cleverly carried out. In honor of the event the apartments were decorated with ferns, nasturitums, roses and sweet peas, and presented an inviting appearance. Games and music were enjoyed during the evening. At twelve o'clock a delicious coliation was served and the affair was one of much pleasure for the thirty-five guests who were present.

OBITUARY - WELL KNOWN YOUNG WOMAN STRICKEN
The death of Miss Ada Deem, 21 years of age, occurred yesterday morning at the home of Miss Isa Hazen. 924 Swann Street following a three weeks illness of complication of disease. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Deem of Mineral Wells but has been making her home in this city as companion to Miss Hazen. She was a young woman of lovable character and leaves a wide circle of friends to mourn her death. She was a life long member of the Mt .Zion Baptist Church and while here has been a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist church. Surviving are the parents, and the following brothers and sisters. Norah. Marian, Elva, Edith, Catherine, Clarence, Raleigh, Walter, Kermit, Clark and Stewart. Short funeral services will be held this afternoon at two-thirty at the home of Miss Hazen on Swann street after which the remains will be taken to her home at Mineral Wells where church services will be held at the Mt. Zion Baptist church. Both services will be conducted by Rev. G. E. Bartlett, of the First Baptist church. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. on 24 July.
