OBITUARY - PARKERSBURG NEWS ALVIA E. PHILLIPS
Alvia Earl Phillips, 68, of North Cornell Villa Park, IL., formerly of Ritchie County near Cairo, W. Va., died June 9. 2002. at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL. He was born in Ritchie County on March 28, 1934, a son of the late Arthur Burl Phillips and Marian Deem Phillips. He was a retired mechanical engineer from Ret Vapor, Inc. Survivors include two sisters, Dolores Phillips Van Buskirk (Frank) of Bloomington, Miss., and Pauline Phillips Corry of Xenia, Ohio; longtime friend, Joyce Leggett of Chicago, IL; four nephews, Doug and Frank Van Buskirk, Craig and wife Alison Corry and Brian Corry two nieces. Katrina Van Buskirk and Suzanne and her husband Matt Voekler; and one sister-in-law, Mercedes Phillips. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Phillips. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the IOOF Cemetery in Cairo, W. Va. with Rev. James Noble III officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Cairo Community Foundation P.O. Box 3363 Cairo, WV 26337.
