Known by friends and family by his childhood nickname "Wendy," he will always be remembered for his quick smiles, warm heart, pockets full of candy/gum and a wonderful sense of humor.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Myrtle Gay (Deems) Wenmoth, who he would have been married to for 64 years in March. He also leaves behind his daughter, Victoria (John) Hale of Vienna; grandchildren, Matt Hale of Vienna, Andrea (John) Ireton of Logan, Ohio, Laura (Sean) Bishop of Holly Springs, N.C., and Andrew Wenmoth of Saint Marys, W.Va. He leaves six great- grandchildren, Isabella and Jack Ireton of Logan, Alice, Blythe and Teddy Bishop of Holly Springs and Bryan Wenmoth of Parkersburg. He also leaves two brothers, Francis Wenmoth and George (Ramona) Wenmoth of Vienna.

Wendy's passions in life included his family, especially picnics with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the summer; his love for working on his neighborhood friends' mowers and vehicles and listening to eight-track tapes in his garage; and raising a garden. In the 1970s, he shared the passion of dirt track racing with his son, Doug.

In his earlier years, Wendy worked as a Parkersburg News & Sentinel carrier, and he also worked for and was mentored by George Stansbury. Wendy worked for the Universal/ Diamond Glass Company from 1943 until its close and his retirement in 1987.

Wendy was preceded in eternal rest by his parents, Andrew Chichester and Sonoma Gertrude Archer Wenmoth; his son, Douglas E. Wenmoth; and his nephew, Thomas Wenmoth.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor Dave Cumpston officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Housecalls Hospice in memory of Wendy. The family would also like to thank those who made Wendy's last days as comfortable as possible: Housecalls Hospice; Dr. David Avery and staff; Dr. Bruce Winans; Dr. Steven McCormick of CAMC; and Bob Dutton of Dutton Pharmacy to name just a few individuals. For those who knew Wendy and were lucky enough to call him family or friend, we have lost a truly great man.1
