Jess Willard Jones, 91, of Big Bend, W.Va., died on Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1918, a son of the late Howard Jones and Bertha Deems Jones Wilson. He was a World War II veteran, a member of Prosperity Baptist Church for over 50 years, was a musician and self-appointed "Mayor of Five Forks."

He is survived by children, Betty (Milford) Yoak of Auburn, W.Va., Charles (Judy) Jones of Five Forks, W.Va., Carolyn (Ben) Gragg of Williamstown, Jane (Roger) Wingrove of Walker, W.Va., and Connie Boggs of Grantsville; grandchildren, Curtis Yoak, Elizabeth Osborne, Nick Yoak, Rich and Joseph Jones, Christy Gragg, Malena Seese, Jesse and Jonathan Wingrove and Jennifer Boggs; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Chester Jones; and sisters, Freda Twoey and Mildred Campbell.

He was preceded in death by wife, Esta Mae (Siers) Jones; brothers, Bennie, Everett, Frank, Harley, Troy and Clifford Jones; sisters, Ruth Elder and Virgie Southhall; and son-in-law, Dennis Boggs.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Prosperity Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Heiney and the Rev. Jim Epling will officiate. Interment will be in Saunders Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville.5
