He was born in Troy, N.H., the son of Claremont Deem of Leachtown, W.Va., and the late Arline Jacobson Deem.
He was a 1968 graduate of Parkersburg High School and later graduated from West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va., and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He had worked at one time for the Commercial Bank in Parkersburg and was working for the Settlers Bank in Marietta, where he was a vice president and information systems manager. He was a member of the Beechwood Presbyterian Church and was active with the Sanctuary House there. He enjoyed art and working with computers.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Melinda L. "Lindy" Stanley Deem of Parkersburg; his children, Chrissy Deem and Josh Deem, both at home; his brother, Donald Deem and his wife, Judy, of Marietta; his sister, Mary Wildt and her husband, Gary, of Marietta; his sister-in-law, Mary Jo Stanley; his brother-in-law, Tim Stanley; his father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Nancy Stanley of Greenburg, Pa; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Beechwood Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg, with Pastor John Koerner officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Sanctuary House c/o Beechwood Presbyterian Church, 703 30th St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.1
